Estee Lauder Double Wear and Clear Difference BB & Enlighten EE Creams Comparison & Review

I think most people who are interested in cosmetics will have heard of BB creams by now, and possible CC creams and EE creams which are all extremely similar but for some reason brands think that mixing it up a bit makes the product more interesting when it just makes things more confusing. But I digress.

For me, a BB, EE, CC cream is a product that has a skincare benefit as well as a cosmetic function. It is generally lighter than a foundation so is more in line with a tinted moisturiser but has added benefits like a high SPF for example, or in the case of many Asian brands, tons of added functions like skin whitening etc.

I struggle very much finding a shade of BB that matches my NC30-35 skin with Asian brands so for me, a brand like Estee Lauder catering for ‘darker’ skins is brilliant.

Without realising I have quite a collection of Estee Lauder base products (including Double Wear original and the light version) and they’re all quite different. Currently, I find using these BB/EE products super easy because I just don’t have time to always apply a proper base so these offer skin evening out, hydration and SPF in one place.

I have:

Double Wear All Day Glow BB Moisture Make Up (SPF30) in Intensity 3.0 (£29)

Clear Difference BB Complexion Perfecting BB (SPF35) in 02 Medium (£34)

Enlighten EE Even Effect Skintone Correcto (SPF30) in 02 Medium (£34)

As you can see, the last two are a bit more expensive, and Clear Difference has slightly higher SPF. The Double Wear range seems to have shades based on ‘Intensity’ whereas the other ones are Light, Medium, Medium Deep, Deep etc. I don’t mind this kind of organisation AT ALL because whilst it seems less precise, it also means that the product blends to a wider selection of skinniness and I am on average, usually a medium to medium deep.

They all contain 30ml of product and I’ve had all three of these for quite a white and they’ve lasted well (then again I rotate base a lot).

One problem I do have with Estee Lauder bases is that they tend to oxidise on my skin and look a shade darker by the end of the day. If I use a primer before hand, this helps with that – I prefer to do that rather than choose a shade lighter and wait for it to darken.

So…

Double Wear All Day Glow BB Moisture Make Up – gives me the most coverage of the three. Has a nice thicker texture, nice and moisturising for my dry skin. The closest to double wear foundation in a BB form, I do like this one very much.

Clear Difference BB Complexion Perfecting BB – is for more oily/acne skin types which I prefer for the summer. Has a lighter, airier texture so good for people who want something that feels more weightless and has a matter finish. Definitely the best of the three for oilier skin types. Has a light coverage.

Enlighten EE Even Effect Skintone Corrector is the newest one and is used under foundation if you wish. I think you get an extremely glowy light finish with this so its definitely better for drier skin types because it even makes my dry skin ‘glow’ and look shiny. If you have oily skin and want to use this, you will need to powder your t-zone at least so you don’t look sweaty. On the plus side, it feels very nourishing on the skin, and makes my skin feel the healthiest of the three. This one also runs a bit deeper than the other two colour wise (bearing in mind that I am a NC35 in MAC), so you might want to test this out on counter to make sure the medium isn’t to dark as its definitely darker than regular medium BBs.

At the moment I am flitting better the Double Wear BB and Enlighten EE under some serum – it gives me a realistic skin finish and takes barely any time at all rubbed in with my fingers (no time for brushes!).
