LA Girl Glazed Lip Paint in Tango Review

I really really wanted a Too Faced Melted Lip gloss but didn’t want to spend around £20 on a gloss i’d probably use twice then forget about. After a while I found a reputable dupe in the form of US brand LA Girl (not widely averrable in the UK but look on eBay for some decent deals!).

Their ‘Glazed Lip Paint’ is a very similar looking, at least packaging wise, to the Too Faced, and is supposed to be a very pigmented lip gloss for just a few pounds.

First thoughts is that the packaging is pretty decent – lightweight plastic and the case is the same colour as the product. It’s a squeeze tube applicator (no brush or sponge) which is better than a crap sponge, but it also means it is messy to apply.

This product is so very intensely pigmented and glossy that to get a good precise application you want to use a brush and perhaps some lip liner with it to prevent bleeding. I found that using it straight from the tube meant that it almost immediately sunk into the corners of my lips looking messy. Also I would be paranoid wearing the deeper shades without an invisible lip liner or some kind of way of making sure it didn’t go anywhere.

I chose the shade Tango which is a coral type colour – quite wearable.

Another problem with this product is the shading – I resisted so long because I found a lot of the colours are unwearable and a bit too garish.

There’s a new range of nude pinks and beiges, but they are a little TOO nude for my liking. Anyway, this one seemed the most likely shade I would wear.

This has peppermint oil in it which is quite strong so if you don’t like minty you definitely won’t like this. I found it quite refreshing but over time I would find it quite annoying methinks. It doesn’t make your lips tingle though, thankfully.

On me – it feels very ‘wet’ to wear:

I can’t compare this to Too Faced Melted gloss because I’ve never tried it, but this LA Girl Glazed Paint, despite my moaning, is a pretty decent little lip product for the affordable price, it’s a good bit of fun. I may buy another at some point if they bring out more middle of the road shades.

More infö here.

Look on eBay if you are in the UK and want to buy – I’ve seen sets of 8 of these colours for just around £14 delivered from the US!
