Memories Can Last Forever with M-Disc

This is a sponsored post on behalf of M-Disc and Mom it Forward Blogger Network. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.

I recently learned something that absolutely shocked me! Did you know that hard drives, thumb drives and even storage cd’s aren’t a permanent storage solution for you favorite pictures and important files? This came as a big surprise to me. I have piles of cd’s that hold the pictures of my four kids from the time they were cute and little up to now where they talk back and think they know everything. I don’t want to lose those cute popsicle eating messy face pictures, that is when I actually liked them!

Okay, okay, I do still liker her. I actually like her so much that I want to make sure that these pictures are always there for me and are as clear as the day I took them. I want to be able to look at that cute 2-year-old smile whenever I want, and maybe even someday show her daughter how much she looks like her mom! That is why my pictures are so important to me.

I have always kept all of my pictures on a hard drive. In fact, my hard drive is currently loaded with close to 700 GB of pictures. A recent study showed that these types of hard drives can lose data if they aren’t powered on, especially in warmer environments.“A powered-off drive in 104 degrees Fahrenheit may start seeing data loss after a couple of weeks.” http://bit.ly/1Eub22a

I would be so sad when the day came that I wouldn’t be able to access my pictures. But if I know better I can do better. That is why I was so happy to learn about M-Disc Permanent Storage Solution.

Of course, this isn’t an exact range, it’s an average. M-Discs can hold data for 1,000 years and beyond! They are resistant to heat, humidity, and magnetism. That means that I feel confident my daughter will even be able to share my pictures with her grandkids, and that is a pretty awesome feeling.

If you would like more information about the M-Disc technology you can watch this video.

You probably don’t need or even want to save all of your all of your data, but the M-Discs are great to archive photos, video, music and important documents.

To burn the M-Disc you will need to have an optical drive. Look for the “M-DISC” logo on the box. M-DISC works in any Blu-ray writer. Drives are relatively inexpensive, and if you’re going to archive, you’ll probably want your own.

If you are someone who takes a lot of pictures like me, I highly reccomend the M-Disc. It really is a low-cost, simple way to preserve the digital information that matters most.

I want to thank you for coming to my blog today and learning about the M-Disc and how to secure all of those digital memories. Long term storage of our digital photos, videos and documents is a problem that most people are unaware of. By sharing this post, you can help get the word out to your friends and followers. They must take steps for the long term preservation of their memories, or they will lose them.
