I’m Tidying Up!

Standing in line at the grocery store, you can’t help but notice the magazine headlines shouting to you.

Almost every issue of every women’s magazine has some sort of “de-clutter” or “get organized” message on them.

EVERY issue.

Have you noticed?

Speaking for both genders, we (men and women) must have a really horrible problem with clutter and organization.

Dang! We’re a mess!

Be surrounded only by the things you love.

Get rid of the junk in your junk drawer.

Open your clothes closet and SERIOUSLY pull out the things you don’t love. Or the things that don’t fit.

And hey, you don’t have to keep old clothes ‘just in case’ you paint a room, or clean the garage, or spend time in your basement or attic.

Be ruthless.

Donate old kitchen gadgets and bowls and pots and pans and plastic containers.

You will feel so much better when you can open a kitchen cupboard door and see ‘space’ between the items you’ve kept (because you love them).

You will smile when you can pull into your garage and not have to worry about dinging up your car door because there used to be so much stuff (that you didn’t love) that lined the walls.

It will be a whole new feeling when you open your linen closet and see the things that make you happy. And all that other stuff is gone. And there’s empty space.

And you finally have a proper home for all the things you love.

Order is dependent on the extremely personal values of what a person wants to live with. – Marie Kondo

I’ve ordered Ms. Kondo’s book. It is scheduled to arrive tomorrow — thank you Amazon Prime!

Trust me when I say that I’m in need of a good de-clutter/purge/get-rid-of-junk mindset.

The book reviews are really good on this one, so I’m looking forward to reading it.

I promise to let you know what I think. I have a feeling I’ll be sharing and quoting lots of good stuff from it.
