Wedding Updates: 13 Weeks Out

This weekend marks 13 weeks until our wedding. Today marks 93 days to go, in fact, and my goodness does it feel that much sooner now that we’re into double figures! I feel like we’ve come on leaps and bounds over the past couple of months and we’re now into the final stretch leading to the big day and all our preparation. Here’s an update on what we’ve done since my last post in January, and a few of the things that we still have left to do.

What We’ve Done

- Invitations Out

The invitations are out, the responses are back and we now have a final guest list. We’ve planned our tables, so this is also something we can sit back and relax over, especially considering it wasn’t nearly as stressful as I was expecting. We originally wanted two long rectangular tables to seat our guests, but this didn’t appear to be the most practical way of setting them up, so we’ve now decided on five rectangular tables, which will seat 16 each. Luckily, our guests have fitted into this arrangement perfectly, so we should all be happy on the day when everyone is seated and enjoying themselves.

- Gifts

We’ve bought most of the gifts we want to give out to our wedding party and families, and I’m so excited to hand them over and get a reaction on the day. I’m a massive fan of gift giving and gain so much pleasure in bringing joy to those most important to me, so I really hope they like what we’ve picked out. It’s a token of how much we appreciate the help and support we’ve had as a couple over the last 6 and a half years and I love them all dearly.

- Boys Clothes

The suits are booked for rental, ties are bought and the men are almost ready for the day – just a few white shirts to buy and shoes to be decided on, but that’s a pretty straightforward decision to be made. Hopefully, they’ll all look dapper and I can’t wait to see my groom at the end of the aisle waiting for me come that special day in June!

- Engagement Shoot

We’ve booked our engagement shoot for about 7 weeks before the wedding, and I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s all about. We’ve decided to go to London to get the photos taken, which I’m really excited about, as it’s a city we adore and have visited a bunch of times together before, so I look forward to getting a bit more comfortable in front of the camera before the big day. I’m also excited about incorporating the pictures into our guest book and showing them to you on here, so look out for that at some point in the coming months.

- Decorations

I think this will be an ongoing project until a mere few weeks before the wedding, just because there’s a few bits to DIY, and I need to feel like we’ve got plenty to fill the room with, but we’ve already got a ton, so it’s going in the right direction. I’ve ordered things like our cake topper, some sequin table linen and some ribbons since my last update, so there’s definitely been progress, but there are a few bits of nail down in terms of what we want, so I hope to keep making ground on this in the coming weeks.

What We Need to Do

These things have all got a little more specific now that we’re into the home stretch – none of the massive things like flowers, cake or invitations are left to do – so these are more of the little details that bring everything together. These are the things that should be fun, but may bring out a little stress in me, as I realise just how close we are and how many ideas can still be taken from Pinterest.

- Details, Details, Details

There’s still a few decorative details that need to be nailed down, for example, the table plan, our chair signs, the photobooth background, but I’m pretty confident that these things will all fall nicely into place over the coming weeks and we’ll end up with something magical. These things are quite important to me, as someone who’s very creative, but I know that in the grand scheme of things, they’re not the most vital parts of the day, so anything that’s not perfect or just doesn’t get done, will be okay. I’m also pretty excited about getting down to the finer details, as these are things I can get my teeth into and take control of. I’ll be doing a ton of wedding related detail posts once the day has passed, so prepare for a Summer of wedding prettiness and inspiration. I can’t wait.
