Tray Makeover for the Holidays

The Holidays are here and I wanted a new tray for styling my dresser.

In the upper L. hand corner, you can see how the tray looked when I picked it up from Goodwill the other day.

Here’s how I gave it stripes:

1. I gave it all a quick sand with sandpaper above 300 grit.

2. Next, I sprayed the bottom with Gold Medal Spray Paint. (My fave gold spray paint. You can pick it up at Micheals).

3. Then I used ScotchBlue TM Painter’s Tape Delicate Surface with Advanced Edge-Lock TM Paint Line Protector (orange colored label) to tape lines in different directions. The arrows show where I switched directions.

4. I then pulled off alternating tape pieces, and use a razor to cut away the edges.

5. Lastly, I sealed it with Polyurethane or another sealer. Use water-based if you don’t want yellowing.

I also used my finger to add some gold tempera paint around the outside edge.

I love how crisp the lines came out! No bleeding what-so-ever.

So much better than the original.

I will be a fun one to use for the holidays!

* ScotchBlue provided the ScotchBlue TM Painter’s Tape Delicate Surface with Advanced Edge-Lock TM Paint Line Protector for this project, but the opinions and project are all mine.
