Free Crochet Pattern: Kid’s Colorblock Scarf

An easy, colorblock scarf in ombre colors! This scarf is perfect for beginners because it gently introduces the use of two different stitches to create a beautiful, yet simple, stitch pattern. Get creative and select a child’s favorite color in three tones, dark, mid, and light!

Skill Level:

Finished Size: 3” (8 cm) wide, 48” (122 cm) long

Materials:
Medium weight yarn (approximately 30 yards of color A, 20 yards of color B and C)
Crochet hook I (5.50 mm)

Gauge:
6 dc = 2’’
5 rows = 2’’
Gauge Swatch: 2’’w x 2’’h (5 cm x 5 cm) ch 8.
Row 1: dc in third ch from hook and in each ch across: 6 dc
Row 2 – 5: ch 2, turn, dc in each dc across: 6 dc
Finish off.

Color Pattern
20 rows of color A
16 rows of color B
12 rows of color C
repeat 1 more time, then and end with
20 rows of color A

Crochet Pattern: Kid’s Colorblock Scarf
Row 1: loosely ch 12, dc in third ch from hook, sc in next ch, *dc in next ch, sc in next ch, repeat from * across: 10 sts
Row 2: ch 2, turn, *dc in next st, sc in next st, repeat from * across: 10 sts
Rows 3 – 120: repeat Row 2
Finish off.

Fringe
Cut 20 strands of yarn measuring 10 inches long. With 10 strands add fringe to one end, and repeat for other side.
