Where to eat and drink in Eindhoven

Eindhoven is filled with nice bars, cafes, coffee places and restaurants. Whatever your taste, style or budget is, you will surely find a place that matches your food and beverage desires and needs. AND your budget;-).

So where to eat and drink in Eindhoven

These are the restaurants and coffeeshops that I visited -and liked-:

This grand-cafe is located in the heart of Eindhoven, right next to the Art Hotel, where I stayed during my citytrip. I had dinner and breakfast here, accompanied by lots of cappuccino’s and fresh orange juice. A spacious, relaxed grand-cafe with a supercool interior design. There is a special play area for children and there also is a small, cute shop.

My breakfast; enormous and tasty!
I love this patisserie/ traiteur/ shop inside Usine. The pinkish cake-shaped lamps were very tempting, I must say. I did not buy one because they are a bit pricey. Good thing, since my house is full enough as it is;-).

Apparently this grand cafe has been renovated and recently reopened. It is huge and extremely busy. I found the mix of customers very refreshing and felt right at home. The coffee was good and the apple pie was delicious.
  • De Stadsbranderij (=City Roaster), by the BeanBrothers
  • You can easily overlook one of the newer coffee hotspots in town: the Stadsbranderij. Walking in the Bergstraat, look out for store De Toverspiegel. Next to it is a tiny alley. Go in, go through the gate at the end (right hand) and you arrive in a tiny courtyard. There you see double green doors. Enter, et voila, the first thing you see is a big coffee roasting machine.
Inside it is very cosy; with a livingroom-feeling. It’s all about coffee here. But also about cooperation and great ideas. For example: they work together with Pinkie Patisserie, having a few of their pastries for sale to accompany your coffee. In case you have a bigger appetite, customers are encouraged to BYOL (Bring Your Own Lunch).
Another cool cooperation is with De Stoute Stoel (=the Naughty Chair), a store that repurposes and restores furniture. The cafe is furbished with their stuff, that is for sale at the same time, like e.g. the small cartoon table where I placed my coffee. Further the Stadsbranderij has a space for events and workshops on the second floor. The heavily tattooed barista was ever so friendly. Highly recommended, this coffee hangout.
  • Restaurant from Piet Hein Eek (Strijp-R)
  • Ofcourse the interior design of this restaurant is gorgeous. This is Piet Hein Eek’s restaurant, people, designer Piet Hein Eek! I had a cafe latte here and a berry merengue. Uhm, yum, mouthwatering, so good!
  • Pinkie Patisserie
  • Initially, Pinkie had only one location: in Strijp-R, on the terrain of Piet Hein Eek. Since a while they have a second outlet in the city centre, in Butler’s Table. And, as I just mentioned, their pastry is sold in De Stadsbranderij. How it tasted? Very yummie!

    Others worth mentioning are:

The cafe is on the second floor at the very end. It looks cosy and nice. Great store, by the way, SissyBoy. Bit expensive, but I succeeded to buy two huge domes (to display pretty things in) at a very affordable price.
  • Kazerne
  • Leefcafe Het Spiegelbeeld
  • Radio Royaal (Strijp-S)
  • Lunchroom De Binnenstad
  • De Bakgigant
  • Restaurant Vintage
  • De Smalle Haven
  • Vlijtig Liesje
  • Keldermand en van Noort, inclusief Bakker Ludwig
  • Stadsrestaurant Caffee Allee (Strijp-S)
  • Cafe van PopEI
  • Koffiehuisje (bij Ketelhuis in Strijp-S)
  • restaurant Zarzo (Michelin star)
  • Van Moll
  • Eetcafe D’n Hertog
  • Grand Cafe Berlage
  • Tijdelijk Restaurant (Strijp-S)
  • As you can see the Tijdelijk Restaurant is a fondue restaurant.

Note: this list is by no means exhaustive.
