Lace Hem Jeans – Summer DIY

I really enjoy wearing lace tops and dresses in summer. The other day, when I was going through my old clothes, I found a pair of white jeans that I have not put on for two years. I was about to give them away when I got an idea to customize them with a bit of scalloped lace. It turned out to be a fast and an affordable way to refresh my old jeans. And I still can’t believe how many compliments I receive every time I wear them.

Here is what you need to make your own lace hem jeans:

• a pair of old jeans (I used my old white jeans.)
• 1 meter (approx. 1 yard) of scalloped, white lace (100% cotton). I got mine for less than CHF5 in Manor (Swiss department store). If you are based abroad, have a look in your local DIY store.
• a thread and needle
• handful of thin pins

Voici ce dont vous avez besoin:

– une paire de vieux jeans (j’ai utilisé des jeans blancs mais la couleur n’a vraiment pas d’importance)

– 1 mètre de dentelle à lacet blanc (100% coton). J’ai trouvé la mienne pour moins de CHF5 chez Manor. Si vous habitez en dehors de la Suisse, vérifiez auprès de votre magasin de bricolage local.

– un fil et une aiguille

– épingles à tête

How to do it:

Cut the lace in half. Thread the needle and double knot the ends. Start by stitching up the ends.

Comment faire:

Couper la dentelle en deux. Enfilez l’aiguille et doublez les extrémités. Commencez par fixer les extrémités.

Use the pins to fold the lace to create ruffles:

Utilisez les broches pour plier la dentelle afin de créer des volants.

Stitch the ruffles.

Coudre les volants.

Pin the lace on the hem of your jeans.

Fixer la dentelle sur l’ourlet de votre jeans.

Sew it on.

Coudre la dentelle sur l’ourlet.
