I recently switched jobs and am now working in a part of Dallas that is absolutely filled with murals! It’s been so much fun discovering these local gems and these always make for great Instagram photo-ops, so here’s the first installment of my top 10 favorite Dallas murals. I know how hard it can be to search and find these mural walls, so I’ve included exact addresses as well as tips regarding the best time of day to go and shoot at each location — be sure to bookmark/pin this page for future reference!
Deep Ellum is known for their murals and it’s an amazing way to spotlight local artists as well. I swear that I see new murals popping up every week and it’s one of my favorite neighborhoods to explore.
Address: 2806 Elm Street, Dallas, TX
When to go: The wall faces the west so go in the morning to avoid direct sunlight. Be wary that the mural is in a parking lot so it can get busy — come early to avoid parked cars blocking your photo spot.
In love with the vibrant colors of this wall and it reminds me of those tesselation projects we used to do back in high school geometry!
Address: 3009 Commerce St, Dallas, TX 75226 // Flea Style parking lot on the left
When to go: The wall faces east, so this is one you’ll want to catch in the late afternoon.
Another gem from Flea Style and this is one mural that is hard to miss! Flea Style has all the boho vintage vibes and I just love the positive message of this wall.
Address: 2501 Main St Ste 150, Dallas, TX 75226 // Dallas Party Bike
When to go: Afternoon — this wall faces east-ish so go in the afternoon to avoid direct sunlight.
This is one of the first walls you’ll see as you enter into Deep Ellum and such a fun one with the different sailboats out a sea.
Address: 2606 Swiss Ave, Dallas, TX 75204
When to go: The wall faces east — go in the early morning to avoid direct sunlight.
One of Deep Ellum’s most iconic murals and I just love the vibrant hues that are like a literal burst of sunlight.
Address: 2642 Main St, Dallas, TX 75226 // Vidorra Restaurant
When to go: The wall is tucked away along the side of the Vidorra and situated in an open-space next to the restaurant parking lot. Get there early before 11am when the restaurant opens to avoid pedestrian traffic and crowds.
Perfect life motto, am I right? It just so happened that Adrian and the kids we wearing their matching taco/taquito shirts when we were mural hopping so a photo was a must!
I actually used to live in the Dallas Uptown area and this part of town is definitely getting its share of new murals too. West Village has numerous that have popped up recently but you’ll find a few treasures even on the unexpected road and pedestrian underpasses!
Address: 3699 McKinney Ave, Dallas, TX 75204 // in the parking lot behind LOFT
When to go: The wall is kinda tricky to find — it’s located behind the row of shops in the small alley that runs alongside the parking garage. There’s not a lot of room here for a photo shoot set up so most likely you’ll need a friend to help by standing in the street and snappy a quick phone photo.
A new-ish mural that popped up in West Village around 2017 and still one of my favorites. Love the colors and it’s one of those 3D optical illusions that I could stare at for hours!
Address: 3699 McKinney Ave #105-B, Dallas, TX 75204 // Kendra Scott
When to go: This is on a sidewalk that can get busy. Come in the early morning when pedestrian traffic is light and no cars are blocking the wall.
My good friend Mione Plant actually did the work for this mural and it’s one of her signature designs that I’m obsessed with!
Address: 5290 Belt Line Rd #100, Dallas, TX 75254 // Flower Child
When to go: This mural is situated on the side of the Flower Child restaurant and faces east. Come in the late afternoon / early evening for a good shot!
A beautiful mural for the flower child in all of us.
Carrollton is such a cute town just 15 minutes outside of Dallas and has such a local charm to it. I’ve been out here to run the greenbelt a few times and they have a great historic downtown that is great for walking!
Address: 1001 W Main St, Carrollton, TX 75006 // Calvert & Co Architects
When to go: Mural faces west so go in the morning to avoid direct sunlight and shadows.
I don’t make it out to Carrollton very often but this mural is a highlight for sure!
Let me know which mural is your favorite!
