Nail Art: Tadashi Shoji Fall 2015

Being that I am clearly obsessed with nail polish it’s only logical that I also follow fashion. I was browsing through the various runway shows from the most recent New York fashion week and I was really struck by the nails at the Tadashi Shoji show.

Nude, subtle nails is a trend that apparently has some staying power. What I love about the nails from the Tadashi Shoji show is yes, they are nude and subtle yet interesting at the same time.

Under the jump you will find a list of everything you need to recreate this look and how to do it. Make sure to check out the original over on TDV Pinterest and let me know what you think about this nail art!

What you need:

  1. A sheer, nude that goes well with your skintone. I used essie Room With a View. I suspect that a base polish may not have been used on the models at all but I prefer to start with a sheer base.
  2. A white, creme finish polish. I used Ulta Snow White
  3. A silver or gold glitter top coat. This is optional but it appeared to me in some of the photos there was glitter involved. I used Pure Ice Poppin Bottles.
  4. A triangle makeup sponge.
  5. A top coat. I used CND Vinylux.

How to:

  1. Start by applying your base color and let it dry completely.
  2. Brush the white polish onto a corner of a dry makeup sponge.
  3. Lightly tap the makeup sponge on the tips of the nail and down one side of the nail taking care not to blend the polish too much.
  4. Repeat on all nails. Note: I did two coats of the white so there would be more of a contrast between the base color and the white.
  5. Add just a little glitter at the base of the white polish.
  6. Let your nails dry COMPLETELY. The key to this nail art look is for the white to look sponged on and not too blended.
  7. Apply a top coat.

I just adore this nail art for its simplicity and how subtle it is. It’s almost like a modern take on a french manicure. Plus, I just think it’s fun to wear nail art from NYFW; makes me feel fancy.

Anyway. Make sure to leave a comment and let me know what you think!
