Comfort

Of the very first songs I can remember listening to on a record player is Mel McDaniel and the song is “Baby’s Got Her Blue Jeans On.”

It’s fascinating how a song can carry you to feeling a particular way and take you to a moment in time. This song takes me back to sitting in front of the brick fireplace at my parents house. It’s winter outside and my Mom is cooking her delicious lasagne in the kitchen. My Dad is coming in from a hard day at work, he’s happy. Saturday Night Live is on the television muted and this song is playing. It doesn’t make me feel homesick but comforted.

When it comes down to it, with movies, music and books all I really want is something that leaves me feeling comforted. The same rings true with my personal style. I’m all about clothes that feel great and that’s why year after year I have always resorted back to my all time favorite denim line, J Brand. They are true to size, have a bit of stretch, and you can always rely on them. Kind of like a great country tune!
