goobye summer, hello fall with Pixi products
You guys it's Labor Day weekend! I can't believe we're here already, and I'm in mourning a little bit because this summer has been so so good to us. But somebody on my Facebook feed just posted a picture of their fall garland hanging across their mantle, so you KNOW the instagrams of all the pumpkin spice things are coming. Let us mentally prepare ourselves. Maybe with a post about transitional beauty looks? What do you say?
Target Style approached me about putting two beauty looks together using their Pixi product line and of course I happily said yes. As I've mentioned in the past, I love this line you guys. Especially their face products. (!!) They really know what they're doing. So without further ado, let us embark on a beauty post together, featuring entirely too many close-ups of my face. My apologies in advance.
First up! A rosy summer look to wear during your celebrations this weekend, in honor of all the times your cheeks were actually this pink because you were sweating your guts out.
Step 1 // Starting with a clean face, pump a little of Pixi's Flawless Beauty Primer onto your fingers or your favorite foundation brush, and smooth over your face. The creator of the Pixi line said that this primer was the closest she's come to restoring her skin to what it looked like in her 20's. I totally believe her, because this stuff is LUMINOUS.
Blend it up, and enjoy the glow. You may wish to stop here, because your children are getting bored of playing with their toothbrushes while you do your make-up. But let's press on.
Step 3 // Using your fingers, dab the tiniest, tiniest bit of Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel on the apples of your cheeks (I'm using the color, Rosy)
A little bit goes a really long ways, so if you get too much, feel free to use the excess on your lips. It makes the prettiest stain!
Flushed cheeks. Check!
I'm cursed with perpetually chapped lips, so this stuff is the BEST for making sure my lips stay hydrated throughout the day.
Step 5 // Okay, okay. People. THEN, you're going to spray on Pixi's Glow Mist. I've never used a finishing spray in my life, but now that I've tried this, I just ... I'm a believer. I've used it in place of a moisturizer after washing my face, and I've used it as a finishing spray after applying my make-up and in both instances, it hydrated and added the light, dewy finish that I strive for pretty much always. #facegoals
Step 6 // Finish with Pixi's Large Lash Mascara, and you've got yourself a rosy, glowy, summer look that you totally tried at, but it looks like you didn't.
For the next look, swinging towards more of a fall vibe, I wanted to try a barely there, smokey eye. As far as eye makeup goes, I don't wear anything but mascara as part of my daily beauty routine, so for a special occasion, I wouldn't want to deviate from that TOO much.
Step 3 // Use Pixi's Mesmerizing Mineral Palette and swipe over your lid. I once heard that grey/coppery tones are best on blue eyes, so I used the Mineral Contour set here.
Honestly I have very little experience with eye stuff, but you know what, these are all in a palette together so my philosophy is that they'll look good no matter which one you use or where you put it. We'll go with it!
To imitate eye liner, I swiped some of the black shadow onto the inner rim of my eyes.
Ba da boom.
Step 4 // Again, swipe Pixi's Tinted Brilliance Balm over your lips. This time I used the lighter color, Unique Pink, since the emphasis was already on my eyes. This picture is embarrassing me.
Step 5 // Spray Pixi's Glow Mist as a finishing spray and you're done! Light, easy, and totally doable with children, especially if you have a collection of sample-sized bottles of shampoo/conditioner from various hotels hiding somewhere in your bathroom. You'll need to bring those out.
