things we did on that extra warm day in december

If we were chatting face to face right now instead of reading/writing a blog post, I'd make some sort of sarcastic grand hand movement and then welcome you into my office. Which is currently a cardboard box, a laptop and a small ottoman acting as a chair in the corner. Everett's even decorated with a few crusty bagel pieces and orange peels from his breakfast. So that's that as far as moving-in status reports go. This weather has been SERIOUS TROUBLE. When it's 70 degrees in December, even your kitchen boxes start asking you perfectly reasonable questions like, WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN HERE? And WHY DID YOU PUT YOUR SILVERWARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BIGGEST BOX YOU COULD FIND? We listened to the first question and straight kicked ourselves out into the sunshine.
Mostly we just walked for hours, stopping in at a few stores here and there. The thrifting in this town is solid gold everywhere you look. I managed to get myself a vintage children's school desk for under $10, yes I did. We also popped into the Old Town General Store and met a man named Leroy that called me Kid and let Everett wear his hat. Best Leroy I've ever met.
This guy used his gigantic saucer-eye power for good that day and we managed to make friends everywhere we went.
And just because it's December 5th and we STILL don't have our Christmas tree up, {#tragic #crying} I took three pictures of things on our walk that felt particularly Christmas-y.
For lunch we sat outside a Bistro and shared a grilled cheese and tomato soup in a box. BEST OF MY LIFE. And indeed! That is Wink sitting next to that box!! I found him at the bottom of a duffel bag the other day and it's one of those moments that I wish I could have a redo on so that I could go back and record their reunion. I haven't seen Everett crawl that fast towards anything, maybe ever? Lots of laughing and face rubbing and body piling. It was the sweetest.
And then we found some leaves.
And finished the afternoon up organizing rooms and doing puzzles.
I love that kid.
