Face Paint Fun without the Chemicals

Kids love to have their face painted – whether it’s at a birthday party, carnival, for trick-or-treat, or just for fun, face painting is just plain fun! If you’re an eco-conscious mom like me, though, you probably cringe at the idea! So many chemicals! Eek! Needless to say, I was THRILLED to discover organic face paint!

Our kids love having their face painted – well, with the exception of our youngest son who has high sensory aversion to anything on his skin. Our other two kids, though? They LOVE it! Any time we go anywhere that has face painting they really want to have it done, and like I mentioned, I cringe at the thought! So when I was introduced to Organic Face Paint by Sweet Colors I was so excited to try it!

For my review I received the Organic Face Paint Kit for Kids. Of course, they wanted to have their faces painted right away! Our daughter chose to have cats because she loves cats. I haven’t done face painting in, well, a long time, so I knew it would be a little tricky! I decided to do a white cat on one cheek and a black cat on the other cheek.

The Face Paint included an application wand much like an eye shadow applicator. I found the face paint to be pretty thick, which made it slightly difficult to apply with the small designs. I’m not sure if it was just that, though, or if it was the fact that I hadn’t actually done face painting in a long time, so I can’t say 100% for sure.

My next task was a half face Spider Man style mask.

I applied the red just using the fingers since it was such a large area, and it glided on very smoothly. Then I used the applicator for the lines, and it did seem to go easier, though it wasn’t as detailed. I did find if I rubbed it a little longer before trying to apply it, I got more solid color and it went on more smoothly.

Overall, I’m happy with the Organic Face Paint. It was a little tricky for me to use, but I noticed even with the second use it was easier, and I think it will continue to get easier with continued use. Of course, I love that it’s organic, and I don’t have to worry about any scary chemicals. The packaging is even eco-friendly! The color lasts but washes off easily. It was a little smaller than I expected but because of the consistency, a little bit goes a long way!
