Graduation Gown Cards....Two Of Them! (Debbie's Designs)

I feel so honored when a stamper contacts me to see if I can help. First let me start off by showing you a trio of graduation cards I made for this year. I needed 3 of them and I stuck to the school colors, even adding envelopes made with the Envelope Punch Board:

In all of my years of stamping, this card is one of my most popular on Pinterest. This card has been pinned over and over. The card actually opens in the manner shown below and you can fit currency right on the inside. The currency (US currency) fits perfectly in there:

And this is what it looks like laying flat so you can see the folds. I added a Velcro dot under the right-hand side cap portion to hold the card closed:

And of course we need a tassel. I hooked it over a circle cut with the 1/2" Circle Punch that was glued in place with a Stampin' Dimensional for height. I added a few Glue Dots under the tassel to keep it in place:

You can click here for the: Tutorial that I posted a few years ago. So what is my post about today mentioning that I am honored? I have a stamper who has someone in her family that is graduating. She wanted me to help her use the tutorial I posted to create a different but same type of card. She wanted to use it as a graduation invitation/announcement and not as a currency holder. You'll understand what I mean when you see what I came up with:

So here is a much shorter and wider version. I wanted to keep the card at a size of 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" to fit in a regular card-sized envelope. The photo below shows how the card opens:

I stamped a sentiment on the inside but this is where you can print the invitation portion from your computer and printer and cut the white piece to fit on the inside. I have all the steps needed to create this card or invite:

First up is the cap portion of the card. You need a piece of cardstock measuring 3-1/8" x 3-1/8". Cut (1) circle using the 1/2" Circle Punch. Glue in the very center using a Stampin' Dimensional. Create a tassel and hook around the circle in the center. I used Glue Dots on the underside of the tassel so that it would stay in place.

Now we need 3 pieces of cardstock for the card portion:

Whisper White Cardstock measuring 6-3/4" x 3-1/2". Score on the 6-3/4" side at 3-3/8" and fold.
Basic Black Cardstock 6" x 3-3/4". Score on the 6" side at 3-1/2" and 5-1/4". Fold on both score lines in the opposite direction.
Basic Black Cardstock 2-1/2" x 3-3/4". Score at 1-3/4" and fold.

Using the largest piece of Basic Black Cardstock, add adhesive to the middle section between the score lines. Place the folded Whisper White Cardstock layer in the center of the Basic Black Cardstock layer where the card will fold in the center. Press the glued portion in place on top of the white. The photo below shows what the card looks like at this point:

Using the 2nd Basic Black Cardstock piece, add adhesive to the back like so up to the score line:

Press in place to the card front making sure the folded sections are butted against each other and look like this photo:

The card will now open like this and the two folded sections of the gown are on the front. This is where you can add a sentiment on the inside if you are not printing an invite:

Add adhesive to half of the cap layer making sure not to go to the very edge:

Press in place on your card front. I used my measuring grid to make sure the top to bottom measurement was 5-1/2" tall when I pressed the capped in place. Isn't this a neat card?
