This Just Needs to Be Said.

So as I am pretty sure you are all aware, it seems like everywhere you turn on the internet, someone is talking about essential oils. I mean, I do too, but let me tell you WHY I do, because I have a little beef to share.

You see, I’ve been talking about oils here on my blog for over a year now. Why? Because I genuinely CARE, and want to do the best I can to educate you on them because they have been life changing for us, as you have already heard. It’s really true what they say about them because you DO want to shout it from the rooftops when you take care of those seasonal sniffles or an aching tummy or a crazy hormone imbalance you might have, all because of a drop of oil. I mean, it is pretty awesome you can’t deny that.

Back when I started blogging 5 years ago now (say what??), I was doing projects left and right, making crafts, and redoing our home like nobody’s business. But you know what? I’ve also ALWAYS shared about other things on my blog as well. Things like recipes, family, faith, fitness, etc. So in my mind, I thought sharing about something new and exciting for us, i.e., essential oils, it would be no big deal. And for the most part, most of you are so happy I’ve started sharing about them too because they have changed your life too!

While I can’t deny the business side of Young Living has been an incredible blessing to us, that is not why I share with you. I share with you in hopes you will also take that first scary leap and ordering your kit, just like my skeptical self did too, so you too can learn to listen to your body and use oils for better overall health, wellness and support. I also really love providing the continuing education our amazing team offers once you are a member!

But the beef I have is this…

I’ve noticed a LOT of other bloggers talking about oils now too. And some, it’s clear they are only doing this for the business potential. And it makes me sad. It makes me sad because I can only assume if you order through them, you might not be getting the support you need afterwards. Because it’s a big lifestyle change and you need that extra support! I just hope that you know me well enough by now, to know that isn’t why I share with you. Yes I’m still going to offer promotions to new members like I always have, but I just want you to know the WHY, and why I do that. I am a gift giver, and I know everyone loves free stuff. That’s just human nature.

I didn’t jump on “the oily train” like so many recently have to make a buck. I’ve been sharing consistently, for 14-15 months now. I hope you see some value in that.

I also understand how you as a reader can be annoyed when your favorite bloggers who’ve always talked about decorating are now talking about oils. I mean, I get it. I really do. But honestly, people change y’all. As I have said before, there is WAY more to life than decorating, and I am going to talk about lots of other things, just as I always have. It isn’t necessary to knock anyone for turning into a lifestyle blog if they want to, because again, people change. Priorities change. People become actually content and HAPPY with their home and don’t feel the need to change it up constantly anymore. That’s in the state I am in right now. I’m just happy with (most) everything. But no one should be punished or feel less-than if they decide to go a different more all-encompassing route of being a lifestyle blogger. Many decor bloggers have began including fashion posts, fitness posts, homeschooling, natural living and oils….you get the idea. And there isn’t anything wrong with that! Just be open to change, is all I am asking.

When we brought my husband home from his day job, I thought it would give me more time to work on projects around here, if I had any to do. But it’s been quite the opposite. We seem busier than ever! Homeschooling is NO joke, and running businesses out of your home is no joke either. I am not complaining by any means because we are absolutely fortunate for this opportunity, but we have just been trying to do better about having family time, work time, fun time, and fitness time. And all of those right there take up an entire day! :)

Anyway, I think that’s about it. I just wanted to share what was on my heart lately and wanted to get it out there on why we do what we do. I received a comment the other day that basically said “I should re-evaulate my posts.” Well commenter who I will keep anonymous, there is more to me than decorating and DIY. I actually am not that shallow. It just KILLS me sometimes how people think they can say hateful things behind their computer monitors, and not think there is a real live person (me) that’s going to see and read that. A good rule of thumb I stick by is this:

If you wouldn’t say the same thing to the person face to face, then it probably shouldn’t be typed out.

I loved Cinderella. :)

With all that said though, we actually ARE beginning a new room makeover this weekend which I’m so excited about! Of course I’ll share the details when I can, but I do have some decorating coming up. And a lot of other far from decorating random things I am sure too. And essential oils. It’s true. That’s me, like it or love it! ;)

Have a wonderful Easter friends!

xxoo,
