More than boulders

(Hier geht’s zur deutschen Version)

We warned you that there is more to say about our first dive at Marsa Abu Dabbab because the exit is quite interesting. Although it is not obvious from the beginning. The first impression: just boulders, let’s move on quickly. However, you can find lots of marine life between these boulders!

The group went back towards the shore and we were about to follow them when this little grouper caught our attention. We thought the composition is quite nice for a picture and as we were only two meters below the surface light and colours were amazing.

Shortly afterwards we discovered this sea urchin between the rocks…

…as well as this scorpionfish. We were getting into a good position and when we released the shutter this butterfly got himself captured as well!

Cheeky! But we managed to get a shot without the butterfly, too!

One more turn and we found this pair of eyes. Can you spot the crocodile fish, too?!

And then we found a textile cone snail. Beautiful creature but also fatal!

Cone snails are equipped with a kind of harpoon carrying a toxic cocktail that is so complex that not remedy has been found yet. So please don’t even think about touching a cone snail! Their poison is lethal for humans! If you are interested in further information about cone snails check

National Geographic’s video on youtube!

After this encounter we decided to return to the shore, too , accompanied by a group of squids.

After all the exciting things we’d discovered on this dive there was another dive to come after a short surface interval!

And don’t forget: dive2bubble!
