Money & Kids

With the help of apps and games, teach your kids the basics of money in a fun way! Here is a list of our top picks for apps to help teach kids money smarts:

1. Motion Math: Pizza! is fun for all. Create the pizzeria of your dreams, while learning economics and math as you buy ingredients, design pizzas, set prices, and serve customers. It’s a “delightfully delicious simulation” of a game.

2. Money Math: Counting Coins is a fun way to help teach your child how to work with coins. It’s also beneficial in helping children work on their addition, subtraction, and story problem skills.

3. Snoopy’s Street Fair helps children learn entrepreneurship by helping the Peanuts gang coordinate a street fair to raise money for baseball uniforms. This game teaches kids to save money to invest in new ventures, like Lucy’s Psychiatrist Services.

4. Green$treets: Unleash the Loot! teaches kids how to manage money while rescuing endangered animals in the magical town of Green$treets. It’s so much fun, kids don’t even realize they are learning essential money and math skills, such as setting goals, budgeting, earning money, saving & spending decision making, and giving to charity.

5. Kids Money is an educational tool for kids to manage their money. With money from Christmas, their birthday, or allowance, Kids Money helps them to calculate when they can afford the things they want.

6. Bankaroo is a virtual bank for kids. It teaches kids (and parents too!) about the value of money in a simple and fun way.

7. The Game of Life is a classic that’s fun for the whole family! It teaches the ins and outs of life – paying bills, raising a family, purchasing a car, etc. Will you settle down and get married or stay single and indulge in lavish luxuries and risky investments? Your kids can choose different paths and customize the classic characters.

8. Savings Spree is a fun app with a serious lesson for kids 7 & up (younger children can play too, with the help of mom, dad, or an older sibling). It teaches kids how the choices they make each day can add up to big savings or big expenses, depending on how they decide to spend (or not spend) their money.

Do you (or your kids!) have any favorite, financial apps?
