Britt’s 30th Birthday

In my last post I mentioned celebrating my best friend’s 30th birthday this weekend and thought I would share some of the party details today.

First up, meet the b-day girl, Britt! She and I met freshmen year of college in calculus class. We became good friends almost immediately and were roomies for all three years after meeting. It’s kind of funny because we both have the same name and back then we also shared the same initials as well. Britt moved to Wisconsin after graduating from college but we’ve remained close. And now, lucky for me, she and her husband are living in Richmond so I get to see her way more, which I love.

So now that you know the back story — on to the party…

Britt and one of her co-workers found the perfect spot in downtown Richmond to host the party — a Cuban bar/restaurant known for their mojitos called Havana 59. They have a lovely little rooftop patio that you can rent for events.

The space is intimate and has quite a bit of charm on it’s own but we spruced it up with some birthday decor — balloons, centerpieces, happy birthday banners, etc. I ended up getting a few items from the Oh Joy! fall collection at Target including paper fans and this happy banner. Super cute!

My absolute favorite decoration was this photo timeline that Britt’s mom put together with photos of Britt through the years. It was adorable.

Some appetizers:

Everyone loved the Cuban nachos — plantain chips topped with beef, melted cheese, onions, peppers, black beans, jalapenos, sour cream & fresh cilantro.

And the mojitos. They have every flavor you can imagine and they’re really good!

Britt was smiles while we were singing to her.

The cake was vanilla cake with raspberry filling and chocolate icing from Pearl’s Cupcake Shoppe — my favorite cake place in Richmond. I honestly don’t even really like cake (ice cream is my dessert of choice) but I can never turn down Pearl’s. I may be a little biased because we got our wedding cake there but seriously, they make some of the best cake/cupcakes that I’ve ever had.

Here a few more photos from the evening:

Family.

Friends.

Lots of laughs and great memories!

Overall, it was the perfect way to spend a summer evening — rooftop with good company, celebrating a milestone birthday with one my best friends in the whole world. <3

Have you celebrated your 30th birthday yet? What did you do? Mine is coming up soon. I need ideas.
