I Was Part of the World’s Largest Unretouched Selfie

That’s me and kid in all our selfie glory on Saturday at Aerie‘s World’s Largest Unretouched Selfie at Mondrian South Beach. Some time back someone dubbed me “the queen of selfishness and selfies.” Hey, I’m an aries and a blogger. No biggie. So when I got asked to be a part of a record-setting event that revolved around aiming the camera at yourself, I couldn’t help but laugh and say of course. I mean any event where they hand out selfie sticks has to be a good time, right? Yup, especially when the focus behind it is to encourage women to love themselves and take pics that don’t involve running filters and Photoshop on the final product. Encouraging women to own what they have is always a beautiful thing. Not only was the concept great, the event was a blast, too, filled with adorable girls in DIY flower crows, including my little kiddo, whom I took with. Everywhere I looked droves of girls had their cameras forward facing and were snapping shots of themselves while we waited for the big moment. That being famed photog Gray Malin atop the pool in a helicopter capturing a shot of all of us snapping shots of ourselves. We all loaded our cameras into our selfie sticks, set the timers and counted down until Malin wrapped the shot. Afterward, we hit the American Eagle store on Lincoln Road to spy the super cute Aerie swim collection. I nabbed some basic crop tops that will get a workout this summer and shorts while I was there. I love how the sizing is petite friendly. I may or may not have snapped a few selfies of me in my new finds. And I certainly wasn’t alone. Selfie queens unite. Be sure to check it out all online using the hashtags #loveyourrealselfie and #aeriereal.
