DIY Thumbtacks with Buttons

We have a wonderful guest from Courtney, at Crafts By Courtney. Courtney has been our bloggy friend for well over a year now and we absolutely love Courtney’s blog. Her projects are always so inspiring. Today she is here sharing how to make DIY Thumbtacks with Buttons.

Hello everyone, I’m Courtney! You can find me over at Crafts by Courtney where I blog about kids crafts and home decor projects. I’m very excited to be guest posting over here at Elizabeth Joan Designs for the lovely Erin and Emily!

These girls are super talented and inspire me all the time with their clever projects and makeovers!

Okay, now on to the craft!!

I recently gave an old corkboard a makeover, and wanted to make some cute thumbtacks to go with it. On a recent trip to JoAnns, I found these packs of decorative buttons for $2.00. At the time I had no idea what I wanted to do with them.

Then I got an idea, why not make some super cool thumbtacks with them!!

Supplies

For this craft your going to need the following:

  • Buttons
  • Thumbtacks
  • Tacky glue

Getting Started

I couldn’t wait to begin this craft. I grabbed some thumbtacks I got from The Dollar Tree, my “handy dandy” tacky glue and buttons of course!!

Lets get crafting!

Step 1 – Pick Your Buttons

Okay, so you know the story about how I found the buttons. For this craft…any kind of button will work great (as long as they are the flat ones).

The other buttons in the picture had something that poked out (didn’t know until I opened it). So I wouldn’t have been able to glue anything to the back easily.

Step 2 – Add Thumbtacks

Now this part is kinda tricky…just kidding. Add a little glue to the back and firmly press the tack in.

Step 3 – Let Dry

Make sure to let the glue dry for 2 hours. Once they are completely dry, you can start using them!!

Finishing Touches

Wow, I think they turned out super cool!! PLUS, I had them made in no time. 1, 2, 3! Can’t beat that right?!?

Now I want to make more since they were so easy.

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my craft. I hope you can make some of these thumbtacks too, the button possibilities are endless.

Thanks again ladies for having me!
