Hello 2015

Unlike everybody else I haven’t made any new year’s resolutions yet. I haven’t done a round up of “my year in blogging” 2014 or a post about my 2015 goals.

I haven’t really had a chance to stop and think about this year.

You might or might not know but Dylan and I made the move from Joburg to Cape Town in December and hit the ground running with so many beautiful weddings and a lot of vineyards!

Everyone wants to know WHY we moved here. It’s a common question with so many answers.

The obvious answer: It’s SO freaking beautiful here and our work is visual!

In the last two years we’ve gotten to travel all over the country to places we’ve never been before or places we’d never think of going to. We’ve loved exploring Gauteng fully, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, KZN, a bit of the Free State, Eastern Cape and even some of Mozambique… but we’ve hardly explored the mountainous and massive Western Cape and what really inspires us is new landscapes and meeting new people.

Cape Town is a wild and bright city. Friendly to creatives and entrepreneurs.

It is a designed city.

It’s a place that encourages a healthy, outdoor, active lifestyle.

Dylan and I work hard. 6 days a week or more most of the time and we really need to find balance and find down time daily or at least weekly. Go on a hike in the mountains, go for a walk on the beach, explore a new place.

We’ve lived in Johannesburg our whole lives and we LOVE Joburg!

We have the most beautiful little house in Parkhurst (the best neighbourhood in Joburg obviously!) and we were getting very “settled down”. We could have stayed there and been SO happy and had a good life. Joburg is full of beauty and surprises too and has some of the BEST people in it!

But adventure was calling, somewhere new to stretch us and inspire us… and Cape Town was a lot closer than Portland, Oregon (a place I love but have never been to!).

As I said before, I haven’t had a lot of time to really think and plan for 2015 but I do feel a prickle of excitement and anticipation… for this blog, for Lad & Lass and hopefully for another new project or two.

We’re going away early next week for a bit time out and hopefully we’ll come back with some answers, goals and new ideas!

But for now, I just want to say Hello, welcome back and thanks for being here!
