Have you been looking at bridal cover ups, but you’re not sure if you really need one? Emma here and I wondered the same thing for my wedding. I married in the winter, so my reason for a wedding wrap was primarily warmth. But did you know that wedding cover ups are used for so much more? It’s true — and today we’re sharing seven reasons why you might need or want one. From boleros to wraps to fur stoles and bridal toppers, we’re covering them all right here. Bridal Cover Ups Why You Might Need One
1. To keep warm.
A bridal cover up is most often used to keep warm for fall or winter weddings. One example of a wrap for warmth is a faux fur stole, like this:
2. To make your dress more modest.
Whether your ceremony venue requires you to wear a more modest dress, or you prefer a more covered-up look, a bridal jacket or bolero will do the trick. You can even add instant sleeves to your dress with a lace bridal jacket, like this one from Davie & Chiyo:
3. To cover things — from tattoos, to troubled skin areas — even tan lines.
If you want to cover a tattoo, acne, scars, tan lines, or sunburn, a bolero or wrap will do the trick! (Although I’m not saying any of the above need to be covered — its totally up to you. And this is one easy way to do it!)
4. To make your bridal shoot or first look slightly different.
A wedding wrap can make your bridal shoot really pop and add interesting texture and variation to your photos. We especially love when brides wear a bridal wrap for a first look, so the groom can see you before the ceremony (and you can capture the moment on camera) but you still have an official reveal down the aisle. Win, win.
5. To add personal style to your gown
A bridal wrap can add a personal touch to your wedding gown, whether it means adding cap sleeves, change the neckline, or add embellishment to your overall look.
6. To differentiate between ceremony vs. reception attire
While some brides swear by a separate reception dress, others want to just change up their look ever-so-slightly from the ceremony to the reception. A bridal wrap or bolero can do it in an instant — without having to change mid-day. (Pssst. I don’t think two looks is necessary — however, if you want to, go for it! Again, totally up to your discretion.)
7. To make a statement
These boleros won’t cover much or keep you warm — but they’ll sure make a statement!
