Just last week, the boy and I snuck out of town for a mountain cabin getaway in Stowe, Vermont. Stowe is a quaint village just a stone’s throw from the Green Mountain State’s Green Mountains. In the winter, it’s a popular hub for winter sporters, but I went for the maple candy and quintessential New England-ness. Think wooden slat structures and everything made local. Not in a pretentious, bougey way but in the thoughtful way that matters. The way that made everything we ate taste artisanal and everything else seem precious. If you go, you’ll want to drive because the cutest food and trinket shops, microbreweries, and gems of restaurants are sprinkled everywhere in the forest outside of town. Come winter, I’ll definitely be back. And maybe come spring too, because you know, maple tree tapping.
