GET IT, GIRL

It's hard to believe that 1 year ago from this week, I decided to take a huge leap of faith. Huge for me in the sense that I have {for the most part} always stuck to this plan in life that seemed to be laid out for me. After college, I went straight into a public relations agency job and jumped directly into the working world. No waiting it out for the perfect gig, taking a risk to go back to New York {where I worked for a short period} or using a bit of that in-between time to travel the world. I played it safe. And luckily, learned an incredible amount in the short two years I was there. I had the opportunity to grow from incredible co-workers, clients and was involved heavily in the fashion and retail industry, which has always been near to my heart.
However, I've always had this strong feeling of wanting to become an entrepreneur. After gaining the confidence and fine-tuning my skills in the PR and events industry, I wanted to be independent more than ever. I was presented an incredible opportunity around this time last year to do that, while still making a living. Even that it was a risk, I did it... and am so glad I did. It seems like so many incredible opportunities have been presented since that time and I've realized that once you make yourself open, it will happen. Just be patient and keep going, no matter what.
I wanted to share this, as I don't often get too personal here. And although this just skims the surface, I hope that you takeaway this. If you have talents or unique skills, use them. And if you can find a way to turn them into a business, go for it. My favorite quote that helped me get through a lot of this in the past few months sums it up perfectly:
" Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. The only want to do great work is to live what you do." - Steve Jobs
