Sparkling Across America: Colorado

Colorado blogger Leah Behr is the perfect person to give us the lowdown on Colorado life and style! Her blog EatPrayWearLove is the focus of our Colorado edition of Sparkling Across America. Read on to learn more about Leah’s style inspiration, what’s hot for summer, and more!

Tell us a bit about yourself. How did you begin blogging?

I am a serial shopper, a foodie, a total yogi and a wine enthusiast! I work in real estate, which is such a demanding profession, and I decided to start blogging because I just needed a creative outlet, a break from the daily grind. When I started EatPrayWearLove, it was a place to share my thoughts, outfits, and favorite recipes on my very own little online journal. Looking back at posts from early on is actually pretty embarrassing, but also pretty amazing just to see how far EatPrayWearLove has come. Fashion has always been my first love, so it’s natural that EPWL evolved into a fashion-focused blog. I still occasionally share my random musings on life and love, a recipe or two from time to time, and I have a “pray” tab where I invite people to share their prayer requests with me. I love the freedom I have found in not limiting myself to just sharing about fashion.

Where do you get your style inspiration?

I draw my style inspiration from fellow blogger babes for sure! I just really don’t have time to read fashion magazines, and I spend a limited amount of time on them online, but there are certain fashion blogs that I will check every day and want to show my support to. I love the community formed within these relationships.

Describe your style in 3 words.

Changes. Every. Day!

What brought you from California to Colorado?

My parents retired in a town not too far from where I live now, and I followed them out here. My mom is terminally ill and I just could not imagine being so far away from her. It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, leaving everything I had ever known behind in California, but I really just felt like the Lord was calling me here, so I went. I know now that it was the best decision I’ve ever made!

What is your favorite thing about living in Colorado?

My husband. (Cheesy, I know!) but I would not have met my husband had I not moved to Colorado, and he is my rock. Altogether, I just really love my life here – the beautiful scenery, the weather, the relationships I have made. There’s a sense of community in Colorado that just can’t be beat. I do miss California from time to time, but I have come to feel like Colorado is home.

What is your favorite local attraction?

Gosh, too many! Pike’s Peak is gorgeous and I get to stare at it every day! I also love going hiking at Garden of the Gods or Red Rock Canyon which are both just a few miles away from my home and are just beautiful! I also really love concerts and yoga in the summertime at Red Rock Amphitheater in Morrison just outside of Denver. Colorado is a such an amazing place to live!

Do you notice any regional trends that may not be as prevalent in other parts of the country?

I’m not sure if this is a “trend,” but Rocky Mountain people are all about the hiking sandal! Chacos, Tevas, Keens– you name it! I never even knew what these were ’til I moved here, but I feel like everyone I know has some sort of hiking sandal!

What upcoming summer trend are you most excited about?

Graphic print T’s are still totally having a moment, and I couldn’t be more excited about that. I’m also loving geometric prints & patterns, and totally crushing on floral print with stripes or leopard with stripes.

What trend do you think people should stay away from?

I am all about the ’90s comeback, but there are a few styles out there right now that should have been left in the decade: mom jeans and Birkenstocks, to name a few. #sorrynotsorry

What is your favorite piece of jewelry you own and why?

I absolutely love this pair of Black Hills Gold earrings my mom gave me. She owned everything in Black Hills Gold when I was growing up, and wearing them reminds me of her.

What is your favorite piece from EvesAddiction.com right now?

Your gold nameplate necklaces are fabulous and are just begging me to channel my inner Carrie Bradshaw!
