Face-Mapping

Have you heard of face mapping? It’s a 10 000-year-old Chinese tradition based on the idea that blemishes on certain parts of your face indicate your inner health and overall well-being. A friend who recently struggled with an adult acne got hooked on it following her dermatologist’s recommendation. Ever since she started following a few simple rules, her skin got so much better. It's so intriguing to think that everything in our body is connected and fixable, if we actually take the time to listen to it.

So if you fancy finding out why your face is acting out in certain parts, here are the 5 different areas to lookout for and their fixes.

Forehead and T-zone are connected to your bladder and digestive system. So drinking too much alcohol or eating too many rich foods may cause breakouts. You can fix that by drinking plenty of water, eating more whole foods while limiting processed foods since their high insulin content increases androgen which clogs pores.

Around the Eyes area is linked to the liver and heart. Blemishes here may also signal lack of sleep or dehydration. You can fix them by reducing your intake of fatty foods, dairy, and alcohol.

Cheeks are linked to your lungs and often signal respiratory distress. If you’re a smoker, you might get blemishes in that area because of it. If you’re not a smoker, you can fix this by avoiding touching your face with dirty hands.

Acne on your nose may be linked to your heart health, high blood pressure, or a Vitamin B deficiency. You can fix that by decreasing your intake of oily foods and meat.

And when it comes to chin, blemishes on the lower lip area and the chin are connected to stress or having a hormonal imbalance. The chin is also linked to our small intestine and stomach, so breakouts could also indicate poor diet and lack of exercise. You can get rid of your blemishes by avoiding heavy or greasy foods and beverages with caffeine that can further create hormone imbalance.
