Downton Abbey Inspired Wedding

I have a confession to make. I just started watching Downton Abbey. I know, I know, what took me so long, right? I’m kicking myself for not catching on sooner, because like the rest of you who were smart enough to watch from the beginning–I’m hooked! There’s something about this show that’s like the desire of coffee in the morning, I just have to have it.

Be it the storyline or the characters or both, there’s no denying the fashion and style of Downton are a huge part of its draw. Needless to say, wedding style and especially this shoot photographed by Tracey Buyce Photography inspired by the iconic show, is simply fabulous!

From the photographer:

The gowns we’re hand selected by Something Bleu Bridal’s buyer and stylist, Allison Badger. Ethereal, Vintage and timeless looks designed by Belgian design house, Rembo Styling. The first of the gowns, “Imma” features delicate long sleeves of multiple hand crafted laces specifically developed by Rembo designers. The second gown “Joya”, Fluid crepe fabric matched with cotton lace features covered buttons creating the perfect blend of vintage and modern. “Tosi” the final art piece gown features deep golden treading on soft silk tulle, the high cowl neckline and slim long sleeves combine with the deep v back for a dramatic boho chic styling.Bouquets:The marasala wedding color of the year bouquet has Amaryllis, roses, nerine lilies, cymbidium orchids, bursaria spinosa, pieris japonica, tortum. The second bouquet, was all dusty miller-soft, and full of texture and beauty!Beauty: About that beautiful Make-up by Erin Marzilli: Her lace dress complimented her vintage beauty look so perfectly. Erin set her eyes on a makeup palette that matched her complexion of soft redish-bronze, adding shimmery bronze in the creases and subtle champagne. Rosy, naturally flushed cheeks and lips combined with a subtle sheen on the high planes of the face and inner lids create stunning definition. Smudged reddish-brown eyeshadow on the bottom and a light full set of lashes added the perfect amount of drama to off set the delicate textures through out the wedding shoot. Make-up tip from Erin:Where your SPF everyday! 90% of aging comes from the sun & 10% acquires from the natural aging process.?About that gorgeous hair by Jaysie of Hair Creations:“The concept for this shoot centered on a romantic theme. With that in mind, I worked to ensure that all three looks for the photo shoot would feel soft, romantic and somewhat ethereal. This was accomplished by creating soft curls that could still hold up through three style changes. The first look was simply curled, and brushed through to create soft waves. The upstyle was a twisted chignon that worked around Vera’s entire head going from twisted and polished on one side to softer, slightly undone curls on the other side. The final look was created by brushing out the chignon until the curls were emphasized once again. I also backcombed and laced the hair to create exaggerated volume so that the look would feel truly ethereal next to the candelabras at dusk.” Hair Styling tip from Jaysie: “To create waves that looks soft and undone start by using a high quality styling spray like Bumble and bumble Does It All. Next use a medium barrel curling iron (around 1 1/4 inch in diameter), wrapping the hair around the wand being careful not to curl the ends. Curl around your entire head shape by clipping away sections, working from your nape to your crown. Using a flat brush that has boar’s hair and nylon bristles (to keep ends healthy and lustrous), brush through all of the curls. Be sure to take different pieces and brush them together to blend any lines of demarcation from the curled sections. Shake, spray, and Voila!”
