How to Keep your Undereyes Hydrated Under Makeup

One of my many skin care concerns has always been the area under my eyes. I feel like for most people this is the area that shows the first signs of aging, small fine lines that turn into wrinkles over time. For me, I’ve noticed fine lines appear for a few years now and have worked hard at minimising them with some success.

I can tell when I’m feeling stressed or when my body is not at its best because the lines under my eyes become that much more prominent. But over the years I’ve found way to help smooth my fine lines to the point where sometimes they aren’t even visible or at least barely. Usually that requires consistent use to eye patches, which isn’t financially and physically practical everyday so I’ve found general products and routines which help.

One of my favourite products to use especially during the day (when I feel I get the least skin care protection since I wear makeup to work) is Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Eye Cream ($75AUD / $50USD). I’ve been through many other eye cream, Kiehl’s Avocado, SK II Signature Eye Cream and many roller balls, but nothing has really worked quite as well for me as Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Eye Cream.

Typically I scoop a tiny amount on to a cotton bud, place it on my ring finger and warm it up between my other ring finger. Once the product has softened up I pat it just under my eye area. I do this every morning religiously, whether I plan to wear makeup or not (and sometimes will just do this step with sunscreen if I’m feeling super lazy that day). It’s one of the most hydrating light weight eye creams I’ve found that work well under makeup too. Once applied I can’t even feel it anymore as it absorbs that fast! Almost all thicker formulas I’ve found tend to cause makeup to melt or it ends up “balling up” or creating bumps. Not a great look.

That, as well as constant eye gel patches, a good rich night eye cream and plenty of water has helped me personally significantly reduce the appearance of fine lines under my eyes. One of the mistakes a lot of people make is using these creams till they see the problem disappear and then stop assuming it’s “fixed”. What they don’t realise is this isn’t a one-time treatment, it’s a change of lifestyle that you need to maintain till forever! If it becomes part of your routine then it won’t feel at all like an inconvenience.

If you want to learn about my entire eye care routine then let me know! I just didn’t want this post to get too long when I mostly wanted to rave on about how amazing the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream was for me
