Ultimate Coffee Date
I’m so happy to sit down and have coffee with all of you today. I do love the ritual of a yummy cup of coffee and a nice chat, so I’ve been looking forward to joining in with Coco, Deborah and Lynda for the Ultimate Coffee Date.
I drink my coffee with just a splash of milk – the stronger the coffee, the better – how about you?
If we were having coffee, I would tell you… that I’m so thankful for my running group. It’s growing slowly but with enough people that I can almost always find someone to run with me. There are a few of us that started a super early morning run one day a week as well. Such an amazing way to start the day.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you… I can’t believe it’s the holidays! I’m looking forward to cooking latkes at my husband’s new school next week. I’m not looking forward to shopping for my kids this year, they really just want money and I would really like to buy them actual things. I’ve come up with a few real gifts for my daughter, but my son is proving more difficult.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you… My poor puppy has been living in his cone for a while and it turns out he got a rash under his chin. Unfortunately, he had to spend the whole day at the vet the other day and he must have barked his fool head off all day because he came home with a super hoarse voice. Like almost no voice at all. Silly dude.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you… I’ve been procrastinating getting a delivery and installation of my daughter’s birthday present. It’s hard to have a new job and really not be able to take random time off to get stuff done around the house. And, now that I don’t have the flexibility of a 4 day work week, it’s even harder. But, I think we’ll be able to get it done next week. YAY!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you… We spent one day of the Thanksgiving weekend with my brothers’ family to visit his new puppies. Sad story that his 7 year old yellow lab died suddenly, they really don’t know what happened. But, they decided to get 2 puppies. OMG, they are the cutest and sweetest things! The breeder works with guide dog groups and these 2 have the best temperaments. They’re only 9 weeks old, so they aren’t total terrors yet, but could you just melt?
If we were having coffee, I would tell you… For Thanksgiving, we spent a quiet day, just the 4 of us and went a little north to Malibu. The weather was beautiful and we played in the sand a little bit and then had a casual dinner. It was very perfect.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you… That beach Thanksgiving was after my son and I ran our local Turkey Trot. We had a lot of fun. I pushed myself a little bit and didn’t set any pre defined intervals (like I normally do), but just took a few breaks when I wanted to. I started out way too fast, actually keeping in step with the 11 year olds for a time (what was I thinking) and then slowed down to my own pace. Actually, it’s been so long since I’ve been in a race setting, I forgot all about that urge to start too fast. I took a walk break shortly before the end of the first mile to get back into a better place for me. I finished in just about 35 minutes (3 mile run) and was super happy with that.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you… After the race, I won a mountain bike in the raffle. Super awesome!!! Except that I already have a bike and only ride it very rarely, so I really don’t need a nicer one. So, I listed the bike on Craig’s List, but still no takers. Bummer. Any suggestions for selling a bike?
If we were having coffee, I would tell you… This coming week is super crazy for us – my son’s band show one night and then my daughter’s first show with the varsity dance team for the two nights after that. Lots of rehearsals and baking things for bake sales and figuring out volunteer duties. Seriously, I had to make a list of all the goodies I have to bake this week or I know I’ll miss something. (and this is why I now blog on my lunch break)
Do you still have coffee left? I don’t, so I guess it’s time to pack it in and head out to the day. This weekend is soccer playoffs before that busy week of performances. I plan to get in a run on Sunday.
