Fancy Finds: TATCHA Skincare Review

Recently, TATCHA gave me the opportunity to try a few items from their coveted skin care line. I’ve only heard good things about this company, their products and philosophy, so I decided to give it a go. Do you think it lived up to the hype? Check out my thoughts below…

ONE STEP CAMELLIA CLEANSING OIL: I’ll be honest, cleansing oils weird me out. I don’t like the idea of spreading oil onto my naturally oily face. But, I kicked my hesitation to the curb and tried it anyway. I used two pumps (onto dry hands) and applied it to my (dry) face in a circular motion. Rinsing with warm water, the oil turned into a creamy consistency taking my foundation with it. It was a bit difficult to remove ALL eye makeup residue, so I would recommend removing eyeliner with makeup remover beforehand. Afterwards, my skin felt soft, cleansed, but not squeaky clean like I’m used to. After washing, I followed up with the Rice Enzyme Powder...

RICE ENZYME POWDER: This is probably my favorite product in the bunch. I use it on a clean face (usually after using the cleansing oil) as an exfoliant. Pour a small amount into dry hands and add a few drops of water. The powder becomes soft and foamy as you work it into your face. The foam is thick, luxurious and warm. It also has a slight buttery fragrance, comparable to a newborn baby – is it weird that I like the smell? It’s mild enough so it doesn’t feel like you’re exfoliating until you rinse and feel the results.

ORIGINAL ABURATORIGAMI: aka oil blotting sheets! What makes these unique papers different from the drug store variety are the tiny flecks of gold pressed into the paper. I like the size of these since I sometimes have to use two of those plastic blue sheets. They’re biodegradable plus powder, fragrance and pulp free.

SOOTHING SILK HAND CREAM BODY BUTTER: Moisturizing and lightly scented. The hand cream is great for cuticles and nightly application. The body butter moisturized my dry spots and is fast acting. I would recommend both for after a shower and before bed.

FINAL THOUGHTS

One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil: I’ve only tried one other cleansing oil in the past, so I don’t have much to compare it with, but if oils are your preferred way of washing, it’s definitely worth try. You can pick up a trial size on TATCHA’s website or head to your local Sephora and ask for a sample.

Rice Enzyme Powder: If you have a little extra time for a second cleansing step, give this product a shot. Because the exfoliant is gentle (basically feels nonexistent!) be sure to not overuse it. I noticed a little sensitivity after scrubbing too long.

Original Aburatorigami (Beauty Papers): The larger size of these papers make it worth it if you find yourself using a couple of those blue blotting sheets at one sitting. They do exactly what they say they’ll do, however I don’t see a real difference in performance when compared to drugstore brands. They’re a great gift if you’re looking to pamper a special someone.

Soothing Silk Hand Cream Body Butter: I’m not much of a hand cream person because the greasy feeling basically immobilizes me. I like the Soothing Silk Hand Cream, I just don’t have much of a need for it. I definitely like the body butter because it quickly moisturized my dry patches. I have gentle skin and this was perfect! It doesn’t absorb immediately, but it provides long lasting hydration.
