Interior Design | Nooks: A Home Oasis

Long time no interior post. But today I decided to make it all about that, since it is the best day of the week for inspiration. Today’s post is very opportune for Sunday, since it’s all about creating relaxing spaces at your home. Nooks are basically an oasis, a little comfortable niche, a mini vacation at your own place, or simply a place where you can go read and take a break from everything.

The best thing about it? You don’t need a house in Santorini or a million bucks to create it. In fact, you can create it from stuff you already own or you can DIY. From hammocks to swings, from an Ikea chest of drawers to palettes or wooden boxes, you can use anything as a seat for your special place at home. You can even just use a small mattress or extra large pillows to create it. However, you will need a bit of space for it, preferrably near a window or in the space below the ladder, but it can also be in your attic. To finish it, you only need a cozy blanket, a considerable amount of pillows with fun geometric prints, a faux fur throw, a lantern or candles, a rug, a small side table for books and drinks, and a poster or print to finish creating an atmosphere or mood. Personally, I adore the idea of decorating a nook wall with a light box. Optional: If you have a small wall area for shelves or even space for a whole book shelf, that’s a big plus.
