Two Faced

During the summer I might slap on a little tinted moisturiser but for the most part, I go make-up free and moisturised, relying on freckles and baby blonde highlights to see me through. But come Autumn, and makeup becomes a much bigger part of my routine in order to keep me looking and feeling human. When you’re bundled up in more layers and darker colours, your face has to work that much harder and there are two looks I rely on again and again to see me through.

I have a ridiculous amount of lip sticks and yet there are two I rarely stray from. The first being a soft, natural nude that works perfectly with a feline, flick of eyeliner and dewy, slightly bronzed skin. This is the kind of thing I instinctively apply for daytime meetings, especially if I’m heading out for dinner and drinks after. And I can’t help but feel (even if I don’t look) like Lara from Dr.Zhivago which is always a plus…

The second colour I can’t get enough of come October is a rich, blue-toned red. In the summer, I like a fiery, orange-red but for me, this is just a little too scary on winter skin and a bluer, colder red works a million times better.

Once winter really sets in, you can sometimes feel like you’re just blending into a sea of dark, grey, beige iciness (or is that just me) and when that sense of blah sets it, this is the only beauty look that lifts me out of the rut. I keep the eyes fairly bare with just a little mascara and highlighter and let that Snow White lip do the talking.
