Arriving in the Hamptons after an incredibly busy and hectic week in New York felt like coming home. The lush green scenes and easy going vibe makes for a perfect getaway from busy city life. The Maidstone hotel exceeded all expectations, it’s not often that hotels are so much more charming in real life compared to photos on the website but nothing could have been more true for the Maidstone.

From the outside the hotel looks much like a charming residential home, we even doubted for a few seconds if we were at the right place. The cozy veranda with lounge chairs and white roses immediately caught our eye and we agreed to make this our office for the rest of the afternoon. Inside you’re greeted by a vibrant and colourful interior creating an incredibly comforting and beautiful ambiance.

Room
You should have seen the look on our faces when we first saw our room: blown away! Never have I seen such a cool, quirky interior. Normally I’m not a fan of overwhelming prints, but in this case I couldn’t help but fall in love at an instant. The mix between vibrant prints, colourful cushions and wooden details makes for the perfect combo. It was a matter of seconds before we had discovered the bathroom, which is possibly even more impressive than the room. The giant tub, printed walls and checked floor coming straight from an interior magazine.

Relax in the garden
Besides a beautiful veranda at the front of the hotel, there’s a giant garden at the back with cozy corners to sit down and enjoy a glass of wine, home made treats and a cheese platter like we did. Sit back, see the sun go down and just enjoy.

Swedish vibe
The owners of the Maidstone are Swedish and have incorporated their roots in every part of the hotel. From the traditional Swedish breakfast feast with home made bread, smoked salmon and baked goods that’s being served every morning to the shampoos and soap you’ll find in your bathroom and the sweet treats you’ll find at your nightstand. Surely you’ll not hear us complaining about that, it’s all so good!

Explore the Hamptons by bike
Conveniently located in East Hampton near the beach and wineries, it’s easy to get around by bike that you can use complimentary during your stay at the Maidstone. We had so much fun exploring our neighbourhood at night in search for a nice restaurant to eat at night as well as touring around in our newfound neighbourhood.

Let’s talk breakfast…
Because it was too good not to talk about. Like I mentioned above, the breakfast at the Maidstone is served Swedish style and in all honesty I’m still dreaming about my smoked salmon sandwich with fresh rocket, tomato and the best cheese. Super fresh, quality ingredients and just incredibly tasty. Isn’t it funny how the quality food and breakfasts really sets the tone for a hotel stay? It at least does for me!

Some places just capture your heart and the Hamptons did it for me. Such a cool, relaxed atmosphere in which the Maidstone is the perfect starting point to explore more of this charming area. Next up I’ll be sharing with you an afternoon we spend at a vineyard in the Hamptons…
