Up Your Skincare Game with the Michael Todd Soniclear Cleansing Brush

I recently had the opportunity to try the Michael Todd Soniclear Sonic Cleansing System and I’m here today to share my thoughts with you! Now, I’m sure most of you have tried or at least heard of other sonic cleansing brushes like Clarisonic, but this one from Michael Todd is a little different in a few ways.

First, a little bit about what sonic cleansing does. Sonic cleansing gently yet very effectively cleanses and exfoliates skin using micro massage pulses at speeds up to 300 x per second! You try moving your hands that fast… Sonic cleansing is shown to be 6 x better at removing makeup and 2 x better at removing dirt and oils than washing with hands alone. Also, when your skin is clearer, your skincare products absorb better so they are really working to their full potential.

Included in the Michael Todd Soniclear system is the Soniclear device, 1 antimicrobial face brush, 1 antimicrobial body brush, charging stand and charging cord. (You can choose which country you live in at checkout to be sure your plug is adaptable.) Before you use the brush, it should be charged for 24 hours. After that you should get 25-35 uses per charge or about 2 weeks of use if you are using it twice a day. The face and body brush heads last about 6 months (thats twice as long as the competitors brush heads) and are $25 each to replace.

The Soniclear system has 6 speed settings, 3 for the face and 3 for the body and LED lights to indicate which speed you are using. When the body brush is attached you can choose from low speed which is a pulse setting (bottom red light blinking), 2nd speed (top red light blinking) and 3rd speed (when both red lights are blinking.) Then, when the face brush is attached you can choose from 4th speed (bottom red light), 5th speed (top red light) and Top speed (when both red lights are on.) The device automatically knows which brush head is attached so you don’t have to worry your pretty little face about settings or anything like that.

There is also a timer setting for each brush head. The face brush has a 1 minute cleansing cycle with a beep every 20 seconds to indicate its time to move to a different part of the face. When the body brush head is attached there is a 3 minute cleansing cycle with a indicator beep every 60 seconds. After each cycle the device automatically shuts off, but you can turn it back on and keep cleansing if you aren’t finished.

The most unique thing about these brush heads, and a big draw for me personally is the antimicrobial technology that is built into every brush. Life’s Antimicrobial technology protects the brush heads and keeps them cleaner longer and bacteria at bay. This is achieved by preventing the microbes/bacteria the ability to reproduce and absorb the nutrients they need to grow and thrive.

The face brush is soft but you don’t need to push down hard when your cleansing, just sort of move it around in little circles. You can use any kind of cleanser you like except ones with large or hard exfoliating shell pieces because it will most likely be too harsh on your skin. I think a foaming cleanser works best but a creamy one works ok too. I like to use a cleansing balm before I use the brush to completely dissolve my makeup so I’m not just spreading it all around my face. The body brush has shorter bristles so it feels slightly firmer/rough. The device is completely waterproof and you can use it with any body wash. I especially love the pulse mode, it feels so nice when my fiancé does my back! I have been using it a few times a week in the shower and my skin feels so soft!

Overall I have really been enjoying using this system! One of the only things I don’t personally care for is that some setting vibrations and the indicator beeps are quite loud, especially if you are washing your face at night in a quiet household. Also, as much as I love using the body brush, I kind of wish they included a cleanser to go with the face brush in the package. Other than that, its been a real treat and I can’t wait to see the changes in my skin with longterm use. The system retails for $150, but they currently have a Deluxe Holiday Bundle for $179 and it includes all products mentioned above PLUS a body brush extension handle, a hard shell case for the device and a makeup bag/carry case.

Have you used or do use use a sonic cleansing brush? What are your first impressions of this one?
