TFC: An English Summer

“Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.” – Anonymous

I sit here, at 5am, jetlagged, reminiscing about the amazing vacation I just had. I arrived home yesterday from a (short) trip to the UK to visit family and the family and friends of my partner. He is English, and this is the first time we have gone to the UK together.

It was a busy 3 weeks, with trips in to central London, twilight parties and lots of drinking and eating! I came away from the trip gaining new friends and family as well as memories I will have for a lifetime! This is the first of many many more English holidays.

While I was there, I was also lucky enough to not only attend, but also style my cousin’s wedding in Winchester. Winchester is the county town of Hampshire and is traditional, quaint, but also very elegant. There were markets all weekend long and the streets were lined with beautiful blooms.

The bride was first married in Sydney in a very traditional style wedding. As her husband is in the British navy, they decided to have a renewal of vows in his hometown. She wanted this wedding to be different, a little more relaxed and “party-like”– so that was my inspiration! The reception saw her change from her original wedding gown to a gold, floor length dress. She had an amazing Boho Kitty headpiece and belt and wore her hair out and relaxed.

When it came to the florals (my favorite bit), the brief was small, whimsical and “fairy-like”. The colors I used were pinks, blush and white and included roses, babies breath, dahlias, queen annes lace and lisianthus’. The bouquets we unstructured and playful and I used a variety of sized blooms to help create beauty and impact!

Whenever I style a close friend or family’s wedding, it makes it that little bit more special for me. It’s something exciting and beautiful that I can contribute to their special day. No matter who it is though, I always aim to create each arrangement in a unique way. No two weddings will ever be exactly the same… and why should they?

Overall the wedding and the trip went amazingly. I heart England. I heart my family and my NEW family and friends too.
