Florist Friday : Visiting Zita Elze’s beautiful shop in Kew – Christmas 2015

Last Friday afternoon, I went to florist Zita Elze’s beautiful shop in Kew. It’s become a bit of a tradition for me over the last few years to visit in December. And I always look forward to seeing the breath-taking floral designs, which Zita has created especially for the festive season.

Outside the shop, there was a stunning display of Christmas decorations including several wreaths.

This natural design below includes astrantia, waxflower, ivy, eucalyptus pods, brunia, Spanish moss, eucalyptus and Acacia baileyana.

I love the subtle metallic elements in this wreath below. It features gold eryngium, pepperberry and asparagus fern.

And here are a couple more of Zita’s wreaths…

Natural foliage designs are so on trend at the moment, as I mentioned in last week’s Florist Friday blog post. However Zita has been making all foliage wreaths for several years. And I actually made one myself when I attended her Christmas Wreath Course three years ago.

Now, let’s step inside…

Inspired by recently seeing a tree full of red apples whilst at a nursery, Zita had created a fabulous tree with red hanging apples, birds and decorations. It took centre stage in her shop, together with a wonderful range of Christmas bouquets and table arrangements, in a predominantly red colour palette.

Succulents decorated another table…

…and how lovely is this asparagus fern, which is also available in silver, white, copper and rose gold at New Covent Garden Flower Market.

I love this intricate design which includes glittery waxflower?!

And this simple arrangement was so captivating…!

I absolutely adore the intricacy, attention-to-detail and ethereal nature of Zita’s designs. And I hope that you’ve enjoyed seeing them too in today’s blog post. Do visit the Zita Elze website to see more of her work. Social media wise, you can find Zita on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

P.S. Tomorrow on Flowerona, I’ll be featuring footage from my visit to the shop in my Flowerona Reflects video.
