FP Me Profiles: Meet Shaiyanne Dar
Shaiyanne Dar is one of those people who won’t let anything get in the way of her dreams and passions. She sets her eyes on the prize, and makes her way to the gold. I first met Shaiyanne at our End Of Summer Rooftop Party. Her striking presence caught my eye, and when my camera focused on this Hawaiian beauty, she was anything but shy. I was happy to have another opportunity to get to know her better during a recent day of shooting in NYC. She’s been one of our favorites on FP Me, so today we’re taking a step inside her world.
From blogging to styling, Shaiyanne has created a path that is leading her to everything she’s ever wanted. Read on for her story:

“…And when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it” – words by Paulo Coelho from his book The Alchemist; words I undeniably believe in and live by.
I came to New York City in the spring of 2012 after receiving an amazing job offer with an established premium denim company. Originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, making it this far east was an accomplishment all its own. I had just spent the 3 years prior studying fashion merchandising in Los Angeles while working in the industry, so for me, all signs pointed to New York City. It was my ultimate and I wanted it… so I went for it.
This place to me isn’t just a city, it’s a world of its own full of dreamers who do anything but sleep. In these past 2.5 years I’ve learned so much about myself through personal struggles, work experiences and the amazing connections I’ve made through projects such as this. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with the Free People team on past FP Me projects and it was through the connections I made in the FP Me community that inspired me to start a fashion blog of my own. My very first post was shot in the dead of winter in about a foot of snow, and I chose to wear a faux-fur vest from Free People. Choosing that piece as one of the styling elements for my shoot was really special to me.
Besides working full time managing ecommerce & digital media for a lingerie company in Manhattan, and updating my blog on a weekly basis, these days I am also focusing my efforts on launching my own company. By this time next year, my goal is to turn my website into an online store, carrying an assortment that’s a reflection of my own personal style. From the day I decided to pursue fashion, I told myself that I want to own my own business. This is exactly what I am on a mission to accomplish and I truly believe that through hard work and focus, the universe will help me achieve it.
