Contemporary Interpretation of Quebec Summer Cottage: L-House by CCM2 Architects

CCM2 Architectes completed the design and development of L-House, a modern summer cottage located in Fossambault-sur-le-Lac, QC, Canada. Nestled between birch trees, the residence is defined as a contemporary interpretation of the neighboring traditional Quebec homes. A prefabricated main volume intersects with a wooden cantilevered rectangular block, creating an L-shape. According to the project developers, the material selection perfectly integrates the new building in its surroundings while also reducing disturbances on the site.

The layout is flexible and answers the modern living needs a young family: “On the first floor, the living area is filled with great luminosity. On the second floor, a library, a large washroom, the bedrooms and two balconies provide the owner with a great view over the St.Joseph lake. The master bedroom and its balcony projection overlook a section of the patio which spreads along the residence, defining two living spaces.” Light and airy, with extensive use of wood throughout, the welcoming interiors make this modern cottage feel like a perpetual holiday escape.
