Yea Mon! All The Pics From My Jamaica Trip That Should Inspire You To Go

If you follow me on Instagram then you know that I was in JAMAICA!!! *screams & does the Nae Nae down your timeline*

Last week, Strength of Nature (SON) treated a few top editors and influencers for a beach getaway to Montego Bay. And ya girl was one of those lucky people.

My trip started off a little rocky after waiting 8 hours for the plane to take off. So when we finally arrived and got through immigrations and all of that I was over the top with frustration, sweat and exhaustion. SON actually arranged for the Visit Jamaica folks to meet us at the gate. Which I have to give all thanks to baby Jesus because we were all too through with life after what ended up being the longest plane ride ever.

The first night was all a blur, so there are no pictures. But after showering and rolling all around in that comfy king-sized bed at the Royalton White Sands Resort, I was ready for whatever Jamaica had in store for me.

The next morning after breakfast we learned about the new brands SON added to their massive portfolio. There was also a Q&A with two of my favorite and most brilliant hair stylists, Felicia Leatherwood and Pamela D. Hogan.

If you remember, last year I served as one of the bloggers to start TalkingTexture.com (SON’s natural hair blog). And although I’ve moved on to explore other opportunities, SON products are still high on my list of favorites. So it’s amazing to see the growth of the company and be able to say I was a part of that.

Here’s a few product tips that I learned during the Q&A.

Introduce Soft & Beautiful Botanicals coconut oil to your nightly routine by adding it to your hair when you wrap it. This can actually help decrease your split ends and prolong your trim appointments.

Products like Soft and Beautiful Botanicals deep conditioning masque work better for 4C (kinky coily hair) and is perfect for the summer months as it’s anti-humidity repair masque.

After the meeting it was photo-op time!

These two are always looking for the right photo-op… they are usually right!

This POV though…INSANE!

Because everyone else sees our beauty too! LOL

On the way back to our rooms, we were stopped by the Jamaica Observer. The reporter asked us a few questions about the hair products and what we thought. I have no idea where to find a Jamaica Observer, so if you happen to see said interview, tag me or screen shot and email it. Mkay!

Crew Love

Shots, shots shots!

Our weekend was packed and even came with a daily agenda. So when there was some free time, you can guess what we did! DRANK. There’s no point in going to Jamaica if it’s not all-inclusive. So drink as many watered down shots as you can. I swear I never got drunk though, LOL.

My Digital Sorority sisters and #CaptainBAE

Next stop was the Catamaran cruise with Island Routes. I learned later that Catamaran is just a fancy name for a boat. We had to take our shoes off before getting on the boat (so don’t think we are just THOTS with our shoes off).

I snatched #CaptainBAE’s hat.

AN EPIC photobomb from Christen. Hey Taren!

Hanging with new friends. Brandi from MadameNoire & Tahira from The Cut Life.

Once we set sail, the music was loud and the drinks were strong. I cut myself off after my first rum punch because the liquor mixed with rapid waves had me feeling like a crackhead. As if I know what that feels like, I am only using my imagination.

Me & my KK aka Kela Walker.

Beyonce came on.

Since riding on a little boat isn’t my ministry, I sat for a moment and that’s when I spotted what had to be the most amazing view I’ve ever seen.

The view as we stopped at Margaritaville

We stopped at Margaritaville were there was an adult-sized bouncer positioned in the middle of the ocean. I didn’t take a picture because I was unimpressed. But a few were brave enough to tackle the slides. This was also NOT my ministry.

At dinner with Charlene from SON & Afrobella. #BlackExcellence

Then we had a Japanese inspired dinner. The resort really caters to Americas so if you are yearning for traditional cuisine, make nice with a local.

Teaching BabyBrownSugar how to pout in pictures.

BabyBrownSugar not here for me…ever!

OMG and all of this was just in two days?!

No punks allowed!

The next morning we got up early for a river tube excursion. I feel like we were all bamboozled. Or maybe just super naive. I totally envisioned a big inner tube shared by five or six (maybe even seven) people floating down the river. Think Six Flags, yes! Instead…

Who knows what’s so funny? But it made my toes curl. LOL

#DSWerkLife

Individual tubes that were not plus size or big booty friendly were also not my ministry. I could barely squeeze my butt inside. But our gangsta tour guide, Rasta made sure we were good.

Rasta & dem girls!

He even parked our tubes at the edge of the river and sprinted up the hills to fetch raw sugar cane. The best I’ve ever had, although I wondered what it could do to my teeth. I peeped the teeth game of those tour guides, YIKES.

#BloggerBoyfriend

Naturally after baking in the Jamaica sun on the river we were drained. We headed back to the resort to lay out and be beach bums. I convinced Christen to chill in the jacuzzi with me.

And the water was cold.. BOO!

And then, it was time to get ready to go home. I instantly got depressed but I managed to get my butt up the next morning to lay out in the sun. So I thought.

That moment when the sun kinda peaks out.

Getting my Cindy Crawford shoot time in

#StankFace because I had to leave. Que North West thug tears.

It was almost like Jamaica was sad that we were leaving. It was cloudy and windy. A cool 65 degrees. Like, really Jamaica!

My new favorite suit from Simply Be.

And that’s a wrap people!

I plan to head back to Montego Bay this June for a wedding I was invited to so my photo love story will continue.

Sorry for the long post but there was so much to share. If you beauties have been anywhere cool, share in the comments section below.
