Enjoy the Silence

When people ask me if I know what post has been the most popular in the almost seven years of writing Habitually Chic, I don't even have to think. I know it's the post about Jenna Lyons' brownstone in Brooklyn, Jenna Lyons Home: The Complete View from 2009. When I was photographing her for my book Creativity at Work
(shameless plug), she mentioned she was selling it. Thanks to The New York Times, we can now read about who bought the house and what it looks like now. The winners of the unsurprising bidding war turned out to be Tracy Martin, whose career I'll let you about online here, and her husband Vince Clarke, of Depeche Mode and Erasure. (I mean, how cool is that?!)
The couple hired the equally dark duo of Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch of Roman & Williams to put their own stamp on the house. It's interesting to see how some rooms got darker and the already dark master bedroom was lightened up. I know there will be some of you who will say that you liked it better when Jenna decorated it but I don't think either in carnation is better than the other. They both reflect the style and lives of the owners and that's what interior design should always be about.
All design credits are given on The New York Times.

Owner Tracy Martin.
