LA FRENCH

One of the good things about flying Air France besides the great meals is the selection of films. I was finally able to see Birdman and thoroughly enjoyed Reese Witherspoon in Wild but it was the French film, La French, the really impressed me. It stars Jean Dujardin as Pierre Michel, the magistrate of Marseille in the 1970’s who is obsessed with toppling the organized crime syndicate trafficking heroin, the French Connection, run by Gaetan Zampa played by Gilles Lellouche. here. While the violence could make this thriller nmight skew more to men, I was on the edge of my seat and loved the wardrobe of the female characters, the handsome men, and classic cars. While American Hustle looked very costumey, this film made me feel like I was transported to the chicest years of the 1970’s. It will be called The Connection when it is released in the US but I can’t find a date yet so make sure you look for it on your next flight to Paris.
