DIY Stone-Embellished Hair Pins

I mentioned yesterday that it’s been busy, and that I’ve been enjoying some great instant-gratification creativity. I have another fast and easy project for you today, and while gluing one thing to another was invented long, long, long ago, I’ve got an idea for using stone cabochons that you may or may not have considered: adding small cabs to hair pins for small and subtle accessories. DIY stone-embellished hair pins. Yep, it’s that simple today, and it only takes about 2 minutes!

I love stones. I have a really earthy style. I also have long hair that I typically pin back, so this project is completely my style. If it’s your style, too, then I’ll show you my supplies so that you can make your own! The links below are affiliate links, which means if you’re smitten and must buy some for yourself, your purchase supports my craft addiction and free tutorials at no extra charge to you (and thank you, by the way). I’ll link to the exact pieces I used, but there’s a whole collection of cabochons in other shapes and sizes to check out.

You will need:

So this is going to be kind of a non-tutorial… you just add ONE drop of glue to the pad of your pin blank. One. The flat back of the cab will squeeze even that little bit of glue right to the edges, so try not to get it on your fingers. And if (when, if you’re me, ahem) you get it on your fingers anyway, then just be sure not to touch anything with those fingers for about one minute, before you go wash it off. Or, you’ll stick instantly. Voice of recurring experience, here.

Set them aside to dry, and I’d give them at least an hour before actually putting them in your hair. But it’s really that simple – instant accessories!

And you know what they match SO FABULOUSLY with? Yesterday’s stone bangle bracelet, naturally.

Thanks for joining me today for today’s DIY stone-embellished hair pins!
