Coming and Taking Names

"The collective ego is your culturally conditioned self... It is a set of subtle and not-so-subtle beliefs, ideas, and ways of seeing the world that you deeply subscribe to but may not even be aware of... (To deconstruct your culturally created self) takes an inspired degree of mental focus and a willingness." - Andrew Cohen

Literally no part of this van exists to function. I found it in one of those abandoned lots you know holds a history as thick as smog. And for once, I was dressed appropriately--mildly disheveled beneath an air of effort--but what that says of me, I'd rather not pursue. Considering this van was left to every extreme of dilapidation, the last thing I expected to be mistaken for was its potential buyer. I didn't think a keeper of the van even existed, and having to explain my curiosity to him was like having to explain a map without a key. I knew I'd lost him somewhere between "oddly appealing" and "aesthetically deconstructed."
