Lighten Up: A Different Winter Color Palette

Winter can be depressing. And that often manifests itself in wearing darker colors. It seems like once it gets cold, everyone starts wearing black. However, I’ve always thought there was a place for lighter colors in the winter months as well. If darker colors match our winter moods, then brighter shades naturally complement the crisp air and leafless trees. Here’s an example of how to incorporate a different kind of color palette into your winter style.

A pair of slim white denim is one of the easiest ways to add a dash of winter white to your style. It stands out elegantly, as opposed to the “look at me” splash of something brightly colored.

A turtleneck under a blazer is a great combo. It’s refined, mature, and occupies an “in-between” place on the formality scale. Dressier than a button-up, but not quite as formal as a button-up with a tie. Perfect for low-key business functions or a date with someone special.

Though it’s been absurdly cold lately, when we took these photos it wasn’t all that bad. My winter-weight DB blazer from Al Bazar with my quilted Montezemolo topcoat was all I needed.
