Blue, grey, and brown. Three of menswear’s great neutrals and perfect starting points for building any look. Creating something interesting, however, doesn’t mean having to add a splash of color with a tie or pocket square. Mixing neutrals can be anything but plain. Here’s one way to do it with a simple brown, grey, and blue combination. No flash necessary.

The beauty of foundational menswear colors, like blue, grey, and brown is that whatever the season, they’re never out of place. Always in style, always in season.

A light grey double-breasted blazer is elegant, classy, and versatile. Look for one that is snug, but not tight – think of how your waistcoats fit and feel – and not too long. I was blown away by the fit of mine off the rack, which I picked up at Al Bazar in Milan. We just let it out one centimeter on each side. One my favorite pieces and best investments.

Add some dimension to a look built on neutrals with the addition of patterns and textures. The subtle houndstooth in my shirt and the texture of the silk knit tie is all this look needs to give it a little something extra.

The chelsea boot is the ultimate combination of comfort and style. This pair from Jack Erwin has become a staple of my fall/winter wardrobe.

Thanks for reading.

Stylishly Yours,
