Controversial? Yes. Boyish? Of course. Cool? Questionable. As the bowl haircut makes a stylish return this season, we’re torn between whether the bowl haircut should be allowed to make a comeback, at all. However much we love/hate this haircut, there were a few at Fashion Week who welcomed the haircut with open arms and transformed their heavily sequin and decadent collections into futuristic role models for 2014.
Meanwhile, Marc Jacobs also challenged the bowl haircut with a much edgier and rock ‘n’ roll approach.
Taking inspiration from a 90s L.A kid, models’ hair, including Cara Delevigne's, were chopped using scissors and razors to create quick, quirky bobs for his ss14 collection. But it’s not just the designers who are playing around with the hair trend. Miley Cyrus has also flirted with the M.Jacobs inspired haircut (although, the bowl haircut didn’t seem to go down well amongst us critics!), whilst fashion Queen Anna Wintour has long been an advocate for the bowl haircut and round-sculpted bob.
