For thirteen years (from the age of 17 to 30), I battled extensively with my weight. I always tried to control and limit my calorie intake in order to keep the excess weight off, but the combination of the temptation of delicious food and sheer laziness guaranteed my limited success...until three years ago. Fed up with being unattractive and having to hide my lumps and bumps under baggy clothes, I finally did something about it. I realised that my perception of portion control and what it is normal, and not normal to eat, was severely distorted. This is due to the growth in portion sizes over the past forty years or so. Although it is important not to blame society for our overeating, when we are in control of what we put in our mouths. I also felt that I had the added problem of the convenience of food - fast food, take aways and snacks are so quick and easy, and with the increased accessibility of them, it distorted my idea of food and my treatment and understaning of food. Now 20 kilos lighter, I have dedicated myself to turning around other people's health and lifestyles.
