Sewing Project #4 – the Spring dress!

After months of rain & gloomy weather things finally took a turn for the better with a glorious weekend full of sunshine! YAY!

I finished this sewing project a while ago now & the modern floral pattern is perfect for Spring.

I used the Newlook pattern 6968 which was relatively straight forward given I’ve pretty much had to teach myself how to sew!

I have since discovered that my little red John Lewis sewing machine isn’t really good for dress making as it has no seam allowance guides on it…oops! Really essential when making a fitted dress…had a few wonky seams but nothing a belt can’t hide mind you!

I didn’t line the dress so finished the edges with some home made bias tape & added some cute bow detailing to the shoulders:

All up I am pretty happy with how this dressed turned out…especially proud that I teached myself now to insert an invisible zip!
